How Much Does a DUI Lawyer Cost in Venice, FL?
A standard first-time DUI in Venice usually falls in a planning range of $3,500 to $5,000 for the attorney fee. That is an estimate, not a quote. The fee is set after the firm reviews the charge, your record and the evidence, and it is written into a fee agreement before you pay anything.
What the flat fee covers
The fee is flat, so you know the total before you hire the firm. It covers the criminal case at the South County Courthouse, 4004 South Tamiami Trail, Venice, including court appearances, review of the arrest video and reports, motions and negotiations, and trial if the case is tried. The fee does not go up if the case goes to trial. It also covers the administrative license hearing with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which has its own 10-day deadline from the arrest.
What is separate
Court fines and costs, DUI school, license reinstatement fees, ignition interlock costs, and outside expenses such as experts or transcripts are separate from the attorney fee. Which of these apply depends on how the case ends, and the fee agreement spells out what the fee does and does not include.
What changes the fee
- Prior DUI history. A second DUI carries mandatory penalties and more work; a third within 10 years or a fourth can be a felony, heard at the Silvertooth Judicial Center in Sarasota rather than in Venice.
- A crash or injury. Crash cases bring witnesses, crash reports and often blood evidence.
- Testing. A high breath result, a blood draw or a drug DUI with urine testing each need separate review.
- Related charges. A refusal, driving while license suspended or a probation violation filed with the DUI.
Payment plans
Payment plans are available. A typical plan has a down payment at signing and equal monthly payments on a set day. The fee agreement lists the total, the down payment, each amount and each due date.
Why Venice cases are priced the same as Sarasota cases
Venice DUI misdemeanors are Sarasota County cases heard in South County under Twelfth Judicial Circuit Administrative Order 2026-12.2, by the same State Attorney's Office and under the same programs, including DETER for eligible first offenders. Arrests come from the Venice Police Department inside the city, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office in South Venice, Nokomis and Osprey, and Florida Highway Patrol Troop F on I-75 and the state highways. The courtroom is different; the law, the prosecutor and the work are the same. See the Venice DUI lawyer page for the court and arrest process.
Do not wait on the license deadline
An online estimate does not reserve representation and does not extend any deadline. The request for a license review must be filed within 10 days of the arrest, whether or not you have hired a lawyer yet.
